MODSEA President's Message

Welcome to MODSEA!  The Missouri Driver Safety and Education Association is a comprehensive group of teachers and safety advocates who are committed to the improvement and advancement of safe transportation.

My name is Michael Bellers and I am proud to represent MODSEA as the President for the next two years.  I have taught Driver Education in the Rockwood School District for the last 27 years and am currently the Driver Education teacher at Summit High School in Fenton, Missouri.

Moving forward, one of the goals of MODSEA is to promote the value of driver education by working with the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA) to promote driver education safety, quality instructional practices, and up-to-date driver education information.  MODSEA continues to work with Missouri State Representative Galen Higdon and his effort to pass legislation (HB 534) to require driver education to get a license.  Efforts continue to bring various organizations together in a collaborative manner to advance driver education and safe driving practices.  With the leadership of the Executive Board, and the support of MODSEA members, we will do our best to promote, improve, and advocate for the need for driver education in Missouri.

My personal goal is to organize more professional development opportunities for those who teach Driver Education classes.  Our organization is comprised of some of the best driving safety professionals in the state.  I hope to implement the sharing of best practices in our content area and to collaborate on ideas for future MODSEA conference topics.

The MODSEA Executive Board is planning for the state meeting which will be held February 21st, 2018 at the Monsanto Headquarters in St. Louis Missouri.

MODSEA is exploring the possibility of submitting a bid to host the 2020 American Driver Traffic Education Association (ADTSEA) annual convention.  We will need the help of our membership to be able to host a quality national conference.

I would like to encourage you to join ADTSEA and to attend the ADTSEA national conference July 16 – 19, 2017 in Sacramento, CA.  You may find information about becoming an ADTSEA member registering for the ADTSEA conference at www.adtsea.org, click on “Events”, click on box for 2017 ADTSEA Conference.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions for MODSEA.
